Children and wet carpet can never get along well. Wet carpet with mold is a disaster and this can lead to several health infections and severe diseases. Anyone who is having a wet carpet in their place should do everything possible handle it without any delay. It does not dry on its own. There is no point sitting and waiting for the wet carpet to take care of itself. Do not leave it unattended in a corner of the water damaged room.

When flood comes, it does not spare the schools and even this institution becomes a victim to this natural calamity. The only thing the school authorities can do after the flood is to hold the classes somewhere else in a safe zone away from the water logged area.

As I think about my school days and the encounter with wet carpet, there are quite a lot of interesting stories. Almost every year when the school reopens in August, I remember how badly it used to rain. This is no secret that in rainy season it would pour cats and dogs. The news channels would flash how the schools and other institutions had to be closed due to incessant rain. Just like any other kid of my age I loved this news and used to be so happy that I can forget going to school for next two days. It used to make me happier when the holidays used to get extended till the weekend for a whole week off.

It is understandable that as a kid I was more concerned
with playing my video games, toys and other stuff at home away from the school premises. Though I could not enjoy any outdoor games and had to spend time inside the house, it did not bother me as long as I don't have school. As the weekend came to close, the rain was still pouring and only respite was that the intensity of the downpour had decreased. When I reached school, I found that my classroom was not there anymore. I was told that the rain water swept the carpet spread in the classroom and it had become wet.

The wet carpet was not at all an issue to me then. We were shifted to the auditorium and the classes were held there along with students from other division. This was again fun as I had an opportunity to mingle with kids from different classes. Now, when I think about those days I get to understand how self-centered I was as a kid. To me it was all about holidays and making new friends. As a fully grown up adult now I can realize how bad the school authorities would have felt about wet carpet. In a way I was taking full advantage of the rain when the adults were worried about wet carpet.

As usual the rain stopped after few weeks and we had to go back to our regular classroom. For me this was not good news because it meant back to school and the same routine homework. Of course I was excited to see the sparkling new carpet welcoming us after the rain. I must say that I liked every single day in high school, but not the previous years when I had to do loads of schoolwork.
