Mostly people are not aware about the importance of cleaning and proper maintenance of the tumble dryer. By doing little alterations in the use of tumble dryers one can increase their life period. Moreover they can be made energy efficient and money saver by reducing the amount of electricity bills. Thus one must follow some of the suggestions given below for their efficient use.

• Clean the lint filter every time one uses the dryer. For cleaning the heat exchanger put it under tap water.

• It is necessary to wipe the drum with a cloth after every interval of few months. Use stainless steel cleaner or white vinegar for cleaning. Do not use bleach or fabric softeners to clean the dryer.

• The top of dryer should not be used as a working area. This means do not place any hard or heavy object on the top of the dryer. To prevent it from damage one can cover the machine with a protective cover. It includes a thick towel, old mat or piece of carpet.

• Moreover do not climb over the tumble dryers. It may lead to breaking or bending of the levellers which are present beneath the dryer. Their task is to stop excessive vibrating.

• Use a rough sponge for cleaning the hair, lint and other wreckage from the surface of the drum. If some hard object happens to get stuck there during the drying process then stop the machine immediately and remove the object at once.

• Disconnect an end of the vent pipe a
nd examine if any lint or waste has not struck in the pipe so as to avoid it from clogging.

• In case of the condenser tumble dryers they are not plumbed in and thus they cannot drain the water on their own. Empty the tank by simply pulling the front drawer, flipping it upside. Then the chamber will get emptied.

• The heater area and blower housing should be vacuumed every six months. Check the external vent after six months.

• The hose should also be checked in case of vent tumble dryers. Ensure that there is no puncture or leakage in the pipe. Put a flap on the mouth of the hose to keep small insects away from the hose.

• One should the do the vacuum cleaning of the area around the lint filter every six months. A narrow nozzle can also be used for the filter cleaning. This process will remove any lint which gets blocked in any case.

A person can consult the instructions given by the manufacturers to determine the weight to be loaded at one time in the machine for drying. Do make sure that the clothes have been dried after spinning before loading them in the tumble dryers. When the clothes are dried they leave fibres in the drum. This is trapped by the filter. This is the reason due to which it is always recommended to clean the lint filter every time after its usage. The lint also gets deposited in the vent pipe and even around the electric motor. Thus by following above recommendations one can make the working of the dryers efficient. Moreover the person can use waste water for watering the plants instead of throwing it away.
